2025 Holmes SWCD Supervisor Election
Supervisor Election Notice
The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Holmes Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Individuals who own or occupy land within the Holmes Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote for Supervisor.
There are three (3) ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot:
At the SWCD office from October 20 until November 18 normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (except until 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14); or
At the SWCD Annual Meeting, which will take place at Harvest Ridge, Millersburg on November 19 from 5:45-7:15 p.m.; or
Voting absentee from October 20 until November 18, by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the SWCD office at 62 West Clinton St, by calling 330-674-2811, or email holmes.swcd@gmail.com. Absentee ballots must be received by the SWCD office by November 18.
Two supervisors will be elected to a three‐year term commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2028.
Nominees are: Thane Kaufman & Tim Brumme
Thane Kaufman: Thane grew up in Holmes county where he was a member of the West Holmes FFA. He attended The Ohio State University where he received a bachelors degree in Agricultural business. After graduating he furthered his passion for agriculture by continuing to work on his family’s farm where they grow corn and soybeans. Here he is involved with many aspects in the operation that is deeply invested in sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices.
Tim Brumme: Tim previously has served 4-terms on the Holmes Soil & Water board of supervisors, where he gained a greater understanding of how the Soil & Water program works to create a strong partnership with landowners and state/county agencies. Tim and his family operate Big Little Farms where they raise crops, hay and livestock in Killbuck. On the farm they utilizes cover crops, contour strips, waterways and nutrient management practices to keep the soil productive and water clean. He loves all things conservation, and is excited to be back running for the board of supervisors.
